After totaly messing up my HD i was told to download knoppix and use it to fix it, my desktop also is gonecting over a cell phone gprs, its too big and i found this site, curently downloading.

What i did was try to instal win 98 over or next to xp pro, after mesing that up pushed mandrake over it and now cant format or fdsik or install enything ( my mistake).

Anyway after i download, correct me if im wrong.
1. run the md5
2 what is the md5 text file
3. burn the iso with nero
4  start DSL
5 try to figure out how to axses the hd tools, partition it to my wich and format it.
6. instal DSL on linux area and then instal 98 and or xp if i dont learn hoe to use DSL,

I read all throug the hd instalation mesages and figured i must type somwhere---

You need to be root.

"sudo su" (without the quotes) in console and then cfdisk."

First of all get yourself a tomsrtbt floppy to do your partitioning and rescue work with, much easier, faster and functional than a CD Live distro. Then, If you want to triple boot, you must FIRST install win98, THEN XP, then install whatever linux. But don't let linux install lilo to the MBR. Instead install it to a floppy. I'm not sure if this has been fixed yet in Damnsmall linux. I laways install lilo to a floppy anyway, this way windows never even knows linux is there. Also, windows 'setup' that installs programs sometimes complains if there is any bootloader such as lilo or grub which interrupts the 'reboot'.

The site having the prog you mentioned had also some good links to datarecovery and how toos etc, so probably i will be able to eaven save some info i nead on one partition, but that shal be tommorrow as its past 1 am
