lilo on hda4Forum: HD Install Topic: lilo on hda4 started by: opendev Posted by opendev on Sep. 06 2005,12:33
Hello !I have installed dsl from the cd on hda4 with the "install to Hard Drive" menu. All works perfectly but the lilo as been installed on the mbr and i want to install it on the hda4 partition (i have GAG on the mbr). How to do ? Regards Posted by mikshaw on Sep. 06 2005,15:21
If you can configure GAG (is that a bootloader?) to boot DSL, you shouldn't need to have lilo anywhere. That may be just an opinion, but it seems redundant to have multiple bootloaders on one machine.

GAG is not a bootloader, per se.It appears to ba a boot manager, like SBM, but with an X-like interface, rather than a curses interface. < http://gag.sf.net > -J.P. Posted by opendev on Sep. 06 2005,18:59
Exact, GAG is a boot manager and I really want to keep it (in fact, on the same PC is installed dsl, opensuse, fedora, mandriva, kubuntu).I have no problem with all others distributions and I precise during the install process to write the boot loader on the distribution partition (hdax, hdbx). But with dsl, noway so maybe someone know how to do ? Posted by opendev on Sep. 09 2005,10:21
Nobody know how to install grub or lilo on hda4 instead of mbr and if possible directly from the dsl live cd ?Thanks in advance |
