I am a chinese college student,I got to know to DSL accidently,I am very interested in it.But I don't know how to install it to my HD,and I try to find some guides,but I failed.So I want someone to tell me some details about installing. Hi!If you can transfer from one computer to another you do not have to do it by floppies. and you can do it like described at; www.damnsmalllinux.org/dsl-hd-install.html There are two other ways to install "poormans install" and "frugal install". Read about them on the forum If you want to install by floppy you should use some kind of program that can chop up the files of the dsl-cd and then put them together on your HD again. Then you could chose to just boot this content from the hd with help of a bootfloppy, or make a full install as described in the link above. If you would like to install from floppy-disks in another way you could try out Puppy-linux that is kind of similar to DSL. You do need to use another cd in order to create the 22(!) floppies out of the cd-rom. If you are going to use this distro it is important that you got enough RAM in your computer, because it boots the hole system into memory. Thank you very much!But when I tried,I failed! And I wonder if DSL would modify my BIOS,becase ater I boot by the floppy ,my ms-xp system can't work stablely,it rebooted suddenly maybe. when I refresh my BIOS ,problem solved:( |
