Hello,  Really liking DSL, but have a question:  When I boot from the ver. 1.4 CDrom, I get the GUI, sound and ethernet/internet.  After installing from this same CD (using the install to HD function, I have the GUI but no sound or ethernet.  This is an old SIS530-based PC.  What is the technique for managing loadable kernel modules for this 2.6 kernel?

Any ideas?

Thanks,  Howard
I could not find any /etc/rc.modules file.

stock kernelversion is 2.4
and im betting the simplest answer is probably the most likely...check out your boot params via /etc/lilo.conf, they may have changed between live boot and hd boot...just a guess....

SOLVED

Thanks for your post.  Your comment about lilo and the 2.4 kernel pointed me in the right direction.  First, uname -r showed 2.6.12.2 as the DSL 1.4 kernel ver. ???  Cannot totally explain this except to say that my lilo/mbr was hosed due to using the GUI lilo tool in ZenWalk linux which shares the hard drive with DSL.  Everything seemed to boot, but somehow the ver. was copied over from the Zenwalk partition.

Anyway, I re-installed DSL and let *its script* rewrite lilo onto the MBR, and now everything is just peachy.   :-)

Thanks again,  Howard
