try...

sudo cfdisk /dev/hdb
( or hdc = secondary master )
( or hdd = secondary slave )

i did i finally got DSL to reconize it but when i go to do cfdisk it says something about partions are invalid or something PLZ HELP I WANT TO INSTALL

one that has nothing on it i wiped it clean (had windows before is a sony vaio 2ghz 516 ram some stuff like that so i dont think its a lack of anything)

well i decided to install by just the second hard drive pluged in and it worked  :cool:
and instead of my regular computer i made one out of spare parts    :p  its got 216 ram and only a 300mhz processer and runs faster than my other that has 516 ram and a 2ghz processer i love this version of linux and thanks for all the help green and ke4nt1 but i got a few questions cant remeber what there where if i remeber ill post here thanks again :) *remebers one* is there anyway i can get my scroll whell on my mouse to work

There have been a few questions about scroll wheels, but I have really not paid much attention to them. I have a few mice laying around so I just swap them around until I find one that works. I do think that with XFree86 there is a way of tweaking things to get them to work, but I have not done that.
