I cannot install DSL in vmware, i don't know what the path to the virtual disk is callec. I tried /dev/hda1 and many others but I keep getting errors. This is what i get when trying to use /dev/hda1:

An error occured while creating the filesystem.
Some messages from mkfs:
mke2fs 1.32 (09-Nov-2002)
mkfs.ext2: No such device or address while tring to determine filesystem size.

I have my virtual drive in vmware set up so that it doesn't take up all of the 4 gigs i have allocated, but uses it on demand. However I don't think that is the problem.

Please help me out.

Thanks

Inside Windows, what letter is assigned to the virtual drive ?
/dev/hda1 matches the dive C: under Windows (the first partition of the first IDE hard disk)
If it's a virtual drive try /dev/hdb1 or /dev/hdb

Good luck

I use DSL under VMWare and if you have taken the defaults for Linux then mine has set the HD to sda
Works well and it allows me to use me wireless pcmcia card (Belkin) as it is not seen directly by DSL (that only sees the VMnet card (PCNET32).
If you want any help setting up under VMWare let me know.
