I believe you can just boot with a cd and run /usr/sbin/frugal_grub.sh, after that I believe all thats left is to tell it your partition and than install. It doesnt have all of the questions that frugal_install.sh does. After it installs you can enter your boot options into /boot/grub/menu.lst

Just how do you modify the /boot/grub/menu.lst?  /boot is a link to the read-only knoppix volume.

The grub files are in the /boot folder on the root of the partition. If your frugal install is on hda1 look in /mnt/hda1 for the /boot folder. The menu.lst file will be in /mnt/hda1/boot/grub.

My /mnt/hda1 gets mounted as /cdrom readonly. Have I done something wrong?
