I'm getting ready to re-rip my cd collection to a lossless format, and I'd like to share them on my home network.  I have all of the parts for a new machine (Sempron 2800, 1gb ram, 2 x 300 gb ATA), and I'd to share the files from it.  Should I consider DSL for this purpose?  Will it be too much of a hassle to make configurations 'stick'?  I'd like for the share to be on a journalled fs.  Will that be possible?  Would I be better off with another distro (Debian, Mandriva, Slackware, etc)?

Here's my checklist so fare:
assemble box
partition drives:
 hda1: ext2 - 50mb - DSL image
 hda2: ext2 - 1gb - SWAP
 hda3: ext2 - rest - /home, /opt, etc
 hdc1: ext3 - 300gb - flac share
run frugal install
change hostname (or is this a cmd line param?)
install samba
add users
add samba users
edit samba.conf
add samba daemons to startup scripts
install webmin

files/dir to preserve
/etc/passwd
/etc/group
/etc/fstab
/etc/samba/smb.conf
/etc/samba/smbpasswd
/etc/samba/smbusers

If there's a DSL, server newbie guide somewhere, please tell me shutup and I'll go read it.

Thanks,
Wooody
