i have windows 98 on bootable c: and some kind of extended partition i think (used fdisk some time ago, agian i think) on d: 4GB hard drive, can i repartition easily to install dsl on the hard drive? Posted by struppi on Oct. 08 2005,19:35
i tried it and it worked great. i used qtparted.dsl to resize my original windows partition and created the needed system partition for the image, a swap partition and one for my /home and /opt directories.i installed the grub-frugal version and it worked perfect. Back-up important data before doing any playing with partitions. It's possible to do it painlessly, but plan for a total reinstall. Posted by brianw on Oct. 12 2005,03:48
What data do you have on the D: and what size is it. It may be possible to just delete that partition then let DSL install to that partition (usually hda5) which would format it as well.
