Hi Guys.. I'm a noob on this forum so pardon me if i re-hash anything ( I have had a look around, no-one else seems to have the same problem)

My frugal install of DSL goes blank and locks up as soon as the bootloader exits! it just sits there reading from the HDD but doing nothing!

I just bought a new laptop but wanted to ditch WinDoze - I have been using DSL for a couple of weeks and love it so I thought i'd try that as my new OS.

I want to do a frugal install so i can run DSL in RAM. I have tried using both grub and lilo.

I re-partitioned my HDD (using cfdisk, 5 times now) to have:
1x 55Mb EXT2 primary partition (set as bootable)
 1x 60Gb EXT2 logical partition

then I formatted both partitions

next I open DSL off the Live CD (when running off the CD it runs perfectly on my laptop) and then use Apps->Tools->Lilo Frugal install.

I have tried every combination of options possible in the install script but I still get the same problem! ( I have also tried the "install" boot option )

Help! PLEASE!

P.S.: my comp is an MSI S260 Pentium M 1.6Ghz 2Gb RAM 60Gb HDD

Does dsl boot fine as a live-cd or is there just a problem booting with your frugal install? You could try using the failsafe boot code to see if that will get you up and running.

I only have trouble when booting from the frugal install. I have tried booting from grub with the DSL option ( minus everything ) - still crashes... any ideas?
