They both install DSL as a compressed image.

frugal_lite is the "network install" of DSL that works with tomrtbt diskette. It is intended for users that have no access to burning or booting from a cdrom. You must have a network access that is supported by tomsrtbt diskette.

frugal_install is included on the cdrom, it allows for a compressed image install with many boot options.

hi!
where  do I get frugal_install.sh from? I don't have X, because of having no swap partition, with 16 megs of ram

I booted up winth poorman's, but how do I get root???
I tried dsl-hdinstal, but it complaints about that I need root.

thanks

frugal_lite.sh is in the same place you have downloaded dsl.x.iso
There is .iso .md5sum.txt frugal_lite.sh and dsl.x.img for making boot floppy

xerex, with only 16M of memory you will probably want to boot from cdrom like:

boot: dsl 2

That will login you in as root in text mode,  no X.
The frugal_instal.sh in on the cdrom and now you should be able to run it. You could also try to run the dsl-hdinstall as well. You will need to setup a swap partition.
