my com doesn't have a cd-rom drive, so i created a bootable floppy  and copied the KNOPPIX folder from the zip file i downloaded from the download website to C:\KNOPPIX

i rebooted and everything was going nicely when i got an error
Can't find Knoppix filesystem, sorry.
Dropping you to a (very limited) shell.
Press Reset button to quit

i wonder what is wrong with this method?

com specs:
pentium 2 266Mhz
128Mb Sd ram
running Win2K

hey thx for replying.. the DSL wiki doenst say much though. Anyway, ive already solved the problem. I realised i was using the NTFS partition and changed the harddisk ( to one with FAT32) . Now it works and im replying while running DSL!~

One problem though, i running this hard disk as the Primary master.

I'm having a similar issue. The PC has a HDD and CDROM, but the BIOS doesnt recognise the CDROM on boot. Win95 can see the CD, but the boot floppy doesnt seem to (obviously FAT16 format). I tried copying the KNOPPIX file over like the Wiki says but the boot floppy doesnt seem to see that either.

I just get the following on every attempt to boot DSL:
Can't find Knoppix filesystem, sorry.
Dropping you to a (very limited) shell.
Press Reset button to quit

any help here?

Check the capitalisation of the directory & filenames for KNOPPIX. Both need to be all capitals. If you have trouble sorting this out with DOS/Windows download tomsrtbt (www.toms.net) & use that to boot the pc to linux & do things properly.
