dsl-hdinstall - "cannot mkdir"

When I run "dsl-hdinstall" everything works great until it starts the actual copying and making directories and so on.

It says cannot mkdir and cannot make node for multiple items.  The hard drive is on "sda1".  Any thoughts?  I'm trying to install 7.1

edit: This is an older computer, 200Mhz, 130MB RAM, 2Gig HD so I don't know if that makes a difference.  It should work though shouldn't it?....
