I've just installed 2.0 onto a HD and i've got pretty much everything working how i want.

VGA=786 in lilo  DMA enabled as well :)

I've installed Xfree86  from my dsl

i've copied over the config file etc and in top i have Xvesa running?

but when i exit window manager and run xsetup.sh i set it to 640x480 and 16bit  and then start x .. all is fine.

But after a reboot it goes back to 800x600?  where am i going wrong?

thanks in advance.

edit:
im using the standard version of X (the one that comes with DSL 2.0), and did a debian type install
/edit

i second this

cant jump from 800*600 to a higher resolution, whatever i try in Xsetup.sh
and im pretty sure, that my bitdepth is still the same every time (although i have no idea how to check this)

maybe it has something to do with X can detect the maximum settings from my '95 monitor...

DSL is usable, and fast as *** on my p3 450 mhz, but it looks a bit weird from time to time, my desktop picture goes BZRK pretty fast, and i miss the icons on my desktop.

xsetup.sh will overwrite your .xserverrc...it's not meant for use with xfree86
