I deleted the partion windows was on because it was NTFS and I have read that NTFS doesnt work and that you have to have FAT. So I have a partion thats in raw format and dont have a clue how to format it. Is it possible to format it with DSL or do I need some special program that hopfully I can get on a floppy?

You should be able to boot into DSL using the CD.  Then open a Xterminal and run your formatting command.  I think that mke2fs is most commonly used.  Not sure about using a FAT partition for DSL, so can't comment.

Get the dosfstools extension from the mydsl repository.

You can use it to format FAT or FAT32 data partitions.
