Hi all
I'm a bit of a Linux newbie and am trying to get to a DSL box going to receive streaming audio over the net for use as a reserve audio source on a sound desk for Hospital radio. So we have one server playing the music and then any other sites can have one of these boxes and use it as the programme audio when there aren't any live DJs about.
Anyways the stream we are using is in AMF format and I can't get xmms or mplayer to play it. Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong? Or any suggestions for another app I could try that works with DSL.

Thanks

Try mplayer along with the codecpak from the repository.

If that doesn't work, try using Synaptic to install the VLC media player.  VLC plays many different formats.  Of course, so does MPLAYER

Thanks fot the ideas. Hovever...

ok mplayer installed but won't run. Getting the messages:
font: can't open file: /home/dsl/.mplayer/font/font.desc
font: can't open file: /usr/sharel/mplayer/font/font.desc
Linux RTC init error in ioctl (rtc_irqp_set 1024): Permission denied
Try adding "echo 1024 > /proc/sys/dev/rtc/max-user-freq" to your system startup scripts.

Got Synaptic and VLC going but VLC just sits there not playing anything. Ditto XMMS.

Any thoughts?
