I have a HP Pavilion 500MHZ laptop with DSL 2.0 and I am having problems with the volume. It works but it is really low and hard to hear. With windows 98 it used to be loud but after I formatted it and installed DSL 2.0 to the HD the sound can hardly be heard.

Can anyone please help me with this?

Also, does anyone know what program I can use to listen to streaming audio with the "mms" protocol and "wax" files?

Please help.

There are multiple volume controls inside the mixer.

You may need to increase volume for the master and also for the  PCM/wav volume levels.

mplayer should play mms, although you may need to install the codecpak.  I dunno about wax
