xmms audio cd won't play!

Greetings....I'm running DSL 2 with alsa but simply cannot get xmms to play an audio cd! I can eject the CD (eject /dev/scd0) so the drive is detected at bootup.

Summary of what I've done
1) install DSL 2 to HDD
2) upgraded to gnu-utils
3) download alsa.dsl and install
4) run alsa setup (alsaconf)
5) load audio CD
6) start xmms
7) specify /dev/scd0 as directory in xmms and hit the play button but nothing happens.

What am I doing wrong? TIA...

Try the xmms-cdread.dsl in the testing repository.

It will read the cd as data to play it back. This is useful if there is no audio cable hooked up to your cdrom drive.
