Hello,

Sorry for my broken english. :(

I want a mini distribution with MythTV for making HTPC. I look on internet but i don't find.

I have discover DSL and i think this is a good idea to install MythTV in this distribution with full MythTV plugins (weather, game, ...)

Please me help. Thank you very much.

It is definitely possible--yesterday I decided to restore DSL with Mythtv on my hard drive.

It's great--faster than VectorLInux I had on it before, and the playback is smooth on that old machine.

The procedure I used to install Mythtv on DSL can be seen in this thread:

Should be 2nd post down.

Hello,

I am planning to do the same thing. I will be using a CF-to-IDE to make a very silent Pundit MythTV frontend.

How big is your install with the mythfrontend and the dependencies installed? I am trying to find out what size of CF card I should buy.

Cheers,
Ludo

I was also considering doing something similar but I thought the problem with setting this up on an older machine or one of the silent mini-itx platforms was they do not have the processing power to handle it.  Does anyone have experience with setting this up and what might be considered minimum requirements for a hardware platform?

Hello,

You might want to check out The hardware forum of MythTvtalk: < http://www.mythtvtalk.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=10 >
You will be able to find out the needed hardware. If you use a PVR with hardware encoder, the min specs are quite low.

I will keep you posted and you will even have pics ;) In fact, we (a MythTVtalk moderator and I) are going to run the MythTV booth @ LUGRadio this summer in the UK and that's why I want to build this nice frontend.

I ordered the CF-to-IDE yesterday and will be ordering a CF card pretty soon. I just need to find out first the needed space for such DSL/MythTV install.

Cheers,
Ludo
