If you want it stream mp3 music to your local network, you might look into edna in MyDSL repository.  It is fairly easy to configure.

Thanx for the info, but i was looking more to use it as a online web server (not LAN)(probably mp3, maybe FTP for data storage). Are there any other software or info i need to know before starting? Thanks

I don't think dtf meant local _area_ network, just any networking in general...
If you actually want a web server, either monkey (included) or apache (mydsl) can be used.

Thanx thehatsrule, i think i'll try monkey first and see if my setup can handle it, also while im writing this do you know if i can stream it to my pocketpc(WM5), cause that would be even cooler than just over network, Thanx for all the info.

Which extensions did you try?  What was your process in trying to run them?

And what do you mean by seeing your "linux machine on [your] windows network"? (File/printer sharing?)

Hi, i tried apache and edna (i couldn't find monkey). By the way i am running ver. 3.0 of dsl. By running them i mean through the mydsl extensions on the desktop (im not that good at shells). Oh and by the way i mean see it though my 2 win2k pro machines (one for gaming the other for work, i need a server to share the data and files not really for printer though, as well as though web so i can get access at other places at work, pocketpc, etc..) . Im running them though a wireless router and i usually see the other win2k pro machines files if i have both of them on, but i cant see the linux machine and linux cant see the windows network. Thanx for all of your help thehatsrule and others, please help me the best that you can.
