I have no idea what's up.   Used to work fine, but I haven't used this laptop in about a year and now XMMS defecates the following into the console:

normal user (dsl):
Quote
dsl@box:~$ xmms

Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate loadable module in module_path: "libflat.so",

** CRITICAL **: setup_ctrlsocket(): Failed to assign /tmp/xmms_dsl.0 to a socket (Error: Permission denied)

superuser (root):
Quote

dsl@box:~$ sudo xmms

Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate loadable module in module_path: "libflat.so",

libmikmod.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Please help, I'm lost.

The GTK warning is related to a theme setting mismatch (flat engine versus some other engine -- maybe you switched themes or something?). The permissions issue is most likely a matter of your installing a theme as root for user dsl. Check your themes to see what the permissions are and only use themes that you know are complete and not buggy (some of the ones that come with switch.dsl can cause conflicts in certain programs -- e.g., last night I ran into a problem with the crux theme causing xzgv to crash).
