Hi,

I've finally managed to get my DRI and Voodoo 3 work.
Xorg says that DRI is enabled.
I've got Celeron 416 Mhz, 64 MB ram, voodoo 3; I've installed libglide3, xine and win32codecs.
Everything looks fine apart from clips and movies which look like slideshow.
It is not a hard slideshow but that looks afwul. xine says about too much dropped frames. (video output is xshm)
What is wrong?

Xshm is damn slow. Use xvmc (xxmc for xine)
If still slow, enable dma on boot (speeds hd & cd reading)

And if still like a slideshow, get mplayer and play in console..

BTW DRI is 3d stuff, it's no use for video :)

Yeah, mplayer did the job. :D
Xine-I got it as .dsl and don't have such output as xvmc..... how can I get it?

If it wasn't compiled in, then you would need to compile xine yourself..

But playing in console is always faster than in X..

BTW which output do you use with Mplayer in console?
For me the fastest has been vesa:vidix

Bad luck :/

As for the mplayer-vidix can't find display
I use xv and that works perfect.
But I wonder about x11-maybe that would be faster?
(opengl can't display full screen-strange 'coz voodoo3 is an opengl card:))

If you are using mydsl extensions, xv is probably the best since it will use your hardware's video capabilities.

x11 is unaccelerated -- this means software rendering, so avoid it.

For opengl, maybe you need to configure your glide?  But again, if xv is working, stick with it.

curaga, what do you mean by playing in console?  On the framebuffer?  I don't think that would be necessarily faster though - perhaps theoretically it is.  And I guess you wouldn't be able to use any X video output plugins either..

Mplayer can play on console, without X loaded. Fb, AA, caca and vesa aren't accelerated, but vidix is.
The point in vidix on top of vesa is that Vesa is fastest in drawing (pure BIOS vesa modes) and vidix is best on accelerating graphic cards..

Nope, no X output, but only those for console/framebuffer..
