I did some googling, and the reason I can't see the text at the end of Youtube videos is that I can't view text in Flash.  Some more googling revealed that I need to install something called msttcorefonts in order to view the text in Flash animations.

How do I install msttcorefonts?  Is there a myDSL extension that covers this?

There cannot be one, as their license only allows distribution in the original .cab files.. You could compile cabextract and download the cabs from msttcorefonts.sourceforge.net..

What is the exact procedure for this?  The first stumbling block is that I get a 404 error at msttcorefonts.sourceforge.net.

Try a web search, or on sourceforge, etc.  On sf it looks like it's under corefonts.

oops.. Well compiling cabextract follows the normal, configure make make install, then just get the cabs and use cabextract to extract the fonts. Then maybe move the fonts to a better place..
