first i just want to say that i realize this has probly been covered many times, but ive been reading all the posts i can about flash and i cant seem to find any that will clear this up for me.

so i just did a harddrive install of dsl 4.2.5 on a really old computer that i had sitting in the basement.

the first thing i noticed is that i need flash, so i decided to check this forum.
after some reading i discovered that flash 9 wont work with dsl and i found this thread with a link to get flash 7
< http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin....t=18628 >
i actuall think its the next thread down from this in the multimedia section

anyway after going to the link i found a version of flash 7 but it appears to be a windows version in .zip format
(is this actually the one im looking for or is there another flash 7 somewhere in .tar.gz format)

also before i even go through all the trouble what can flash 7 do and what cant it do, for instance can i watch youtube with it?

You can use unzip or some other compatible program.

hey thanks for the help

i got the flash 7 linux .tar.gz file and i unziped it and followed the instructions that were in teh link i posted before, and all seemed to work.
after the installation i tried firefox and it still seems like i dont have flash

one thing i did notice  when i installed flashis that  i got this message
Code Sample
NOTE: Please ask your administrator to remove the xpti.dat from the components directory of the Mozilla or Netscape browser

i dont know if this is what my problem is or not but if it is where do i find it?
ive looked all through the .mozilla file and i cant find any components directory

what flash 7 no youtube?

try typing about:plugins in your browser address bar to see your plugins. you most likely did not install it right, i know flash 7 works, i used it not more than a week ago.

flashplayer.xpt and libflashplayer.so should be in the .mozilla/plugins directory.  You might try loading an updated version of FF.  It should work fine with youtube.
