Intenta cambiar el driver de XMMS, clicando con el boton derecho sobre el reproductor y seleccionando OPtions>>Preferences, selecciona OSS o el otro.
Ojala te ayude en algo.

You could try this.

Check your BIOS or boot up MSWindows and write down the settings for your sound card / driver.  Like the irq , the io and the dma memory locations.

Then boot into DSL and open up an Xterminal window and type:

modprobe opl3sa2 io=0x370 mss_io=0x530 mpu_io=0x330 irq=5 dma=0 dma2=1 isapnp=0

where you replace these values with the settings that are specific to your laptop.

Hope this helps.

Does DSL xmms support mp3 out of the box...I know RedHat you had to load the mp3 codex?

I have a similar problem, when I try to play mp3s, I have no sound, even though the player seems to be playing. I tried using something similar to the command above, but I'm not sure how to see the sound card details under DSL. BIOS doesn't seem to list those details. How can I configure my sound card to fix it under DSL? Again, I would like to play mp3s in XMMS. Any suggestions?
Tnx in advance.

I have this problem also, but only with mp3.
I can play .avi and .mpg musicvideos from my harddrive without any problems, and there will be sound.
But if I try with mp3 nothing will happen. Xmms will just stand still on 00:00 in time and there will be no sound.
I do not have ms windows on this computer, just inserted dsl cd and booted so I can not check irq and so on. And I don't want to turn of my computer and check the bios irq for my soundcard, then I will lose all settings and programs I've installed on my dsl as I have not figured out how to use backup/restore yet but I will take a look at it.. :)

And I also get the same error as the person above with mpg123 myfile.mp3
