The zoom (z Z) functions in xine do not work on my pc.

Other shortcuts like slow-motion do work, and the (<>)
fixed zoom works

Xine zoom (z Z) does work if  i  run dyne-bolic distro.

I  installed xine using dsl-ext

I am a linux newbie so i am stuck at this point.

thanks for the help

jamestr234,
- not sure what dsl-ext is, and I've never actually seen
dyne-bolic, but it's probably using a big X server.
DSL uses tinyX/Kdrive for space saving.
To get the zoom to work, I found I needed to install
the XFree86.dsl package, (and in my case the nvidia.dsl
package), follow the instructions for installing these packages
from the associated info files in the repository, (possibly in the
docs section as well, and all over the forums)  and finally,
open a terminal and start Xine with the xv output driver......
as in -   dsl@box:~$ xine -V xv
I can't say that this driver will be available to you, it depends on the
capabilities of your card, but dyne-bolic seems to be setting your
card up o.k.
It will be important to get the XF86config-4 file correct for your card.

You can't really compare the two distros like apples for apples.
DSL is not trying to be a multi-media powerhouse, but it can do a fine
job of it anyway, for a 50 Meg base distro.

IF the above all works out for you, then instead of having to open
a terminal every time to start xine, you can set the package up to
load at boot, and then edit the xine entry in ~/.fluxbox/menu and back it
up.
But thats another story....

:)
