Webcam Trust 120 SpacecamForum: Multimedia Topic: Webcam Trust 120 Spacecam started by: gleitao Posted by gleitao on July 08 2005,22:01
Hello everyone!I'm new on Linux, i have little experience on it, so right now I'm trying to learn how to work with DSL. My idea is to install it on an USB pen, and configure as a webcam server. Found a few "easy" examples on the net with apache on Debian. The problem is, for what I've read, DSL is not exactly Debian, so i will find a few problems doing this. The first found is, my webcam is Trust 120 spacecam, an aparently it's not supported. So, searched the net for information on how to solve this. There is a kernel module - NW802 or video4linux-nw802-source - for Debian. I downloaded both, but the video4linux-nw802-source is a file .deb, and I have no idea how to use it. The first one is a .tar.gz. This I extracted it and tried to follow the instructions. But, another problem, make command not available. After reading a few threads on the forum and googling, i understood why i didn't had access to commands like make or apt-get. I've installed the gcc1.dsl for this. The commands are now available. But when I run Make, it gives a whole bunch of errors. Has anyone been able to get the webcam to work? Anyone used the module I referenced? By the way, how different is DSL from Debian? Do most of the packages, modules, etc, for Debian work on DSL? Best Regards, gleitao |
