I am pulling my hair out....I have downloaded the dsl-dpkg.dsl  gnu-utills.dsl and the alsadebs.dsl to the /tmp and that is is suppose to install them no sound

I have tried another suggestion and copied those file to my hard drive and ran the command line at boot up time (dsl mydsl1=hdXx alsa and now during the bootup I get this  sound card: driver=alsa(autodetect)
When Dsl does finish booting I still have no sound

I have tried to play a mp3 file using the xmms player I get this message

please check

1 You hve the correct output plugin selected
2 No other programs is blocking the sound card
3 Your soundcard is configured properly

I have tried to go to Xterminal and run the command line
alsaconfig   and I get this is not a valid command

I Feel there has to be a step I am missing to configure the sound card once I am in DSl

Can someone please please help me Thank you

Hi
To me it looks like your card should use the emu10k1.o module which is already in the distro.  Maybe check the following link for ideas.

Good luck

Audigy is supported both by OSS driver "emu10k1" and ALSA driver "snd-emu10k1".

Audigy uses emu10k2 chip, but is similar enough to SBLive's emu10k1 chip to use the same driver(s) ... but without 24bit support.

To troubleshoot either with OSS or ALSA, run "lsmod" to see if the correct module is loaded.
