I'd like to setup a htpc and I thought dsl would be a great os for that. I noticed that mythtv would be agood pvr-application, so I'm just asking if its easy/possible to get working on dsl?

Mythtv should be possible if you install xfree86 and some other dependencies. However, it might be easier to either install a livecd that comes with mythtv or do a minimal pure debian install and add mythtv via apt-get if it is available. The default DSL tinyX servers are probably not ideal for Myth. TV out support is limited, while acceleration is supported in Vesa there also appears to be a memory leak so your best bet is XFree86 + Vendor drivers (IE: nvidia, for example) Posted by sasho on Sep. 10 2005,05:02
It is quite possible. I had DSL and Mythtv setup in a day. Lirc, however, took some effort. I used some of the myDSL extentions, as well as apt-get from he stable tree and the dijkstra repositoriy for mythtv packages. Posted by bone on Sep. 12 2005,16:05
Care to provide any more details on how you did this. I am trying to use apt-get but run into problems with e2progs needing to be removed and then the other packages don't install. Posted by sasho on Oct. 09 2005,21:50
I have outlined the install procedure for Mythtv in this post: < http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin....l=sasho > Posted by CyC0 on Oct. 18 2005,23:40
