can't find modem ttyForum: Networking Topic: can't find modem tty started by: adsl Posted by adsl on Dec. 10 2005,19:13
Got DSL running from cd on my amd k6-2 300, but I'm having problems getting DSL to talk to the modem. The system seems to see it. On the pci tab of System Stats, it shows up as:0000:00:0b.0 Serial Controller: Rockwell International HCF 56k Data/Fax/Voice modem (rev 01). In Dial-Up PPP set up, however, the system can't find the modem and the only choice I get is "Manual". Windows sees the modem on Com 3. In the manual settings, I've tried every tty number from 0 to 15 and none of them seem to work. The ppp messages box opens and it appears to be issuing commands, including "pppdial", but no modem sounds, no connection. Any suggestions? Thanks. Posted by logicmaster2003 on Dec. 13 2005,05:37
