Hi;
I can't find my PCMCIA card at the moment, but for now I have 3 other ways to (maybe) connect to the web.  They are:

-USB 2.0 connection to a Motorola Surfboard cable modem
-USB 2.0 connection to a Linksys WUSB54G wireless adapter
-Ethernet connection to a WRT54G or WAP54G

When the modem is connected by USB to my laptop, lsusb returns
Code Sample
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 07b2:4220 Motorola BCS, Inc.

That's as far as I can get.  Nothing I've tried so far has worked, but perhaps I've gone about the wrong way.  Whenever I use the ethernet connection to either the router or AP, no lights come up for the laptop.  Bear in mind both pieces of hardware work fine on the Dell Dimension computers they're hooked up to.  Just not this one :-/

Nothing is detected by the laptop when I plug the ethernet things in by the way.

Thanks for your help in advance, guys!

EDIT: I forgot to mention what comes up when I plug in the WUSB54G.  It's:

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 13b1:0014

For cable modem, try this. Open up a terminal window and type:

sudo su
modprobe CDCEther
netcardconfig
exit
exit

Note the UPPERCASE and lowercase letters in the commands.
