Linksys wmp54g v4Forum: Networking Topic: Linksys wmp54g v4 started by: colonel_panic Posted by colonel_panic on Jan. 06 2006,01:19
Ok... Well, I have a Linksys WMP54G v4 PCI WiFi card. I have no experience with networking on Linux, and I have no idea how to work ndiswrapper. My system specs are: AMD Athlon XP 2800+, 512 MB RAM, 120 GB HDD, and the previously mentioned WiFi card. I have a driver CD, but I'm not sure what to do with it. I just need some steps to follow... Thanks!

go into bashndiswrapper -i yourdriver.inf depmod -a modprobe ndiswrapper you should use the windows xp drivers. they can be found on the CD that came with the card. Mount cd, and all that jazz that you should figure out Posted by markdown on Jan. 06 2006,01:55

Ok thanks! One more thing, I'm using DSL 2.0.... Is there a way get my card working on 2.0?Thanks again! Posted by colonel_panic on Jan. 06 2006,03:21
whoops fergot to mention this, how do i save these changes so that they will still be there next time i boot DSL? (I have it on my jumpdrive). Also, I lost my driver disc, but i can get an .exe from the linksys page. I think theres a way to extract files from .exe's, so what file types do i need? I know i need the .inf, but are there any others?

not any way that I know of in 2.0. I spent a while trying and all I got was error messages. If you boot from a jump drive, it seems to save automatically? I haven't really looked into it, but it seemed to on mine. andddd just set the .exe up under windows, or on any windows box, and copy the .inf, .sys, and whatever else is under the directory to your jump drive. No luck... I tried those commands with all the files in the root directory of my jumpdrive, which i had mounted, but the OS couldnt find the .inf file. It kept saying that it couldn't find the .inf file, and it couldn't open the module.asp file. IDK what that means, but i figured it might help to know... Oh yeah, I am on DSL 1.5. So, any other ideas?thanks Posted by tempestuous on Jan. 07 2006,15:05
I just went to the global Linksys site and I see that the driver download for the WMP54G is wmp54g_dr,0.zip. But even if it was in .exe format, you can still just unzip it to extract its contents. If ndiswrapper does not work, see here regarding Linux driver - < http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin....t=0;r=1 > |
