Mainly want to know here about the DotNET Framework

And how to "log" it into my Win2K network for drive attachment

I know you are probably working on this problem right now, so I'll give a quick answer so you know someone sees it. Take it lightly, though, because I'm not a Linux network guy at all. I know it's possible because there was another thread here about this. Do a search on Samba. I think you would need the samba client in DSL, or set up an FTP or HTTP server on your Windows machine with sharing on for that drive.

Not real clear on what you're looking for, but here goes anyway.  If you need to attach to a Windows shared drive, you can use smbclient that comes with DSL, ie:
Code Sample
smbclient //<pc_netbios_name>/<share_name> -U<user_name>%<user_passwd>

This will get you to a shell prompt that will allow you to move files around.  I suspect this isn't anywhere near the functionality that you're looking for, but maybe it'll help.

dotnet framework is NOTHING concern with networking in general. It is Microsoft's "virtual machine" (just like Java runtime). When you use languages such as vb.net C#.net, you need dotnet framework.
