In Gnome and KDE, users can access files on remote systems over SSH using the standard methods of file management. The files can then be transferred back and forth easily and nicely. I was unable to find something like this in DSL. Am I missing something or is there an additional package that might allow this?

Umm, no, you can't do this the way you describe.  You can, however, use scp to securely copy files from/to SSH servers, that still works.

KDE and GNOME are probably just doing this for you behind the scenes.

Little more "hands on" with DSL.
