hi there, still struggling with my nice frugal install. since I didn't get any answers to my post on compiling a driver for a weird card:

I am using my old and trusty Prism2-based card. Now, under windows xp, I am able to connect to my WPA-password-enabled router. However, for DSL to connect to the router, I need to remove the encription setting. Am I missing something?

Many thanks!

The linux-wlan-ng driver for Prism2 supports only WEP encryption with its wlanctl-ng utility.  WPA encryption is not possible with this driver.

But there are two other drivers you can use with Prism2 devices in Linux, HostAP and ndiswrapper, and both of these will support WPA with the addition of the "helper" application wpa_supplicant.
And HostAP does not support USB wifi adaptors.

DSL already contains ndiswrapper, but not HostAP and wpa_supplicant.  You would need to compile these ... or find deb packages suitable for kernel 2.4.31.
