Hi, folks....I'm a linux newbie, and, alas I've read all the networking posts, I couldn't find any reference to this:
I've been using DSL for a while, with more than superb results...
I have an ADSL (broadband) internet connection, with an ethernet card and ADSL modem, that worked fine (really fine!!!) with the 2.0 version since I downloaded-burned it...(the day after It went available....
)So, as DSL 2.1 went online, I downloaded-burned it last saturday, and , with a little trembling in my hands, booted the CD (i'm kind of anxioussss!!!)
the ethernet card config was as always...no problem....
the adsl-pppoe config was as always...no problem...
I open Firefox...... go to google....it shows "waiting for response from www.google.com" forever...
so, I open Dillo.....the same....
WTF? I booted ver 2.0....IT WORKS FINE!!!
perhaps bad .iso image....or cd burn
downloaded .iso again....burnt it again....
same sh..t
it takes dhcp, and DNSs correctly....so , it IS connecting with ISP...
but doesn't ping to anything out from the office
so?
Any clue?
It happened a time ago, when tried knoppix in the same machine....so I discarded knoppix (alas, DSL is better!!!)
I'll keep reading....
If anyone knows, please post!!
