I need a 56k modem for dsl 0.9.2Is every external modem a real modem? In comparison to winmodems REAL modems are supported by dsl < 2.0, right? External modems that connect to your RS232 Serial port (Also known as a "COM" port), are REAL modems.USB modems are a different class altogether. Posted by torp on Feb. 12 2006,03:35
like cbagger sez........you need something that connects to a rs-232 serial port. another rule of thumb..if it fits in an isa slot in your machine it is NOT a winmodem....i see old modems all the time at the electronic surplus place locally.....most are $2-$10...some are 28k...some are 33.6....but most are 56k....the less electronics on the card, the more likely it is a winmodem.torp Posted by I went to bed very late on Feb. 13 2006,18:34
