I need a 56k modem for dsl 0.9.2

Is every external modem a real modem?
In comparison to winmodems REAL modems are supported by dsl < 2.0, right?

If an external modem is a REAL modem, which one will be good?
- Elsa basic 56k
- US Robotics sportster flash
- Elsa fun (USB)

External modems that connect to your RS232 Serial port (Also known as a "COM" port), are REAL modems.

USB modems are a different class altogether.

like cbagger sez........you need something that connects to a rs-232 serial port. another rule of thumb..if it fits in an isa slot in your machine it is NOT a winmodem....i see old modems all the time at the electronic surplus place locally.....most are $2-$10...some are 28k...some are 33.6....but most are 56k....the less electronics on the card, the more likely it is a winmodem.

I bought an "Elsa Microlink 56k Fun" with 232 serial connector.

Hope you will help me when I get in trouble with installation.
