I"m using DSL (not the most recent version, but the one before that) and I want to use this wireless usb NIC but I cant get it to work.

I got it off of Ebay and it runs on fine on my windows box
but I cant get it to work for my linux box.

The company looks like some Asian company and I probably
should have went with a better know company

Anyways you can find the drivers and some documenation here

My Model is :

Now the problem is I cant download the drivers because the link is not working as of now.  Anyother place I could download them from? Or anyother way I could get it working on my linux box?

The link is broken because the web page designer pointed to the wrong file name.

Here is the correct link to your driver file:

Good Luck.

ok i got the link and download it, however it appears to be the same as the one for the black model (see download page)
well i downloaded it anyways and I'm still stuck.

According to the manual i need to assing the Linux source tree
which default is /usr/src/linux-2.4.
I dont even have /urs/src/linux.
What do I need to do next?

Please...help.
Thank you.

It sounds like you need to recompile the kernel in order to get your usb device to work with linux.

This can be a difficult thing to do, so I would search Google for some "kernel recompile how to" type help guides.

It is even harder to recompile the kernel in DSL because you need to:

(1) Restore the kernel sources.

(2) Install gcc and related compiler tools.

(3) Go through the rest of the kernel recompile hoops.

(4) Do all of this on a hd-installed version of DSL because you won't be able to do all of this while running from the livecd.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

My advice would be to try something like this:

Download and hd install knoppix 3.3
Grab the kernel sources and recompile the kernel (2.4.22-xfs).
Try to remaster the DSL cd with your newly compiled kernel and drivers.

As you can probably tell, this is not a job for the faint of heart.
