Hello,

I've installed DSL to harddisk.
The network setup in netcardconfig does not seem to stay between reboots. I need to rerun netcardconfig every session.

Any fix?
Thanks
/Jonas

You have to edit one of the scripts.  Probably a bootup script.

I was just getting ready to ask the question to.

Hopefully someone can tell us.   I just installed 2.2b to my PIII 667mhz and my wireless card works great, but I have to add the ESSID and WEP every reboot like you in the iwconfig.

I know I have seen it on here before and I have been searching for the answer, but not finding it.  If I find it, I will post the link.   Or hopefully someone on here will tell us real quick.

I also need my "Enhanced Desktop" to show up every reboot.

You should try adding the config lines to /opt/bootlocal.sh.  Now that work in frugal, not sure it's exactly the same in HD install.

thanks larkd,

I also found this < iwconfig saving settings >

I am going to try, I will let you guys know.

It worked...

Just add /opt/iwconfig.sh to your /opt/bootlocal.sh

I just tested it and it worked.

Now, who knows the command for Enhanced Desktop, so my icons come back everything????

I that is probably added to the bootlocal.sh ...   I am not choosing the DSL noicons either on bootup...

???

I have same problem with a wireless card but add that ifconfig "does not seem to stay between reboots". as jonasforssell said

" add /opt/iwconfig.sh to your /opt/bootlocal.sh " NewDude said

but ifconfig?.

Who is first the egg or the hen .

Does ifconfig have a file somewhere?

I never used ifconfig, but the iwconfig has a file.  I just typed ifconfig on my command line here and it looks like it displays about the same information of iwconfig.  There must be a file that ifconfig writes to (NOT SURE THOUGH).  It you can find that file, copy the path into your bootlocal.sh

I wish I knew more, I love to help you more.  I have a linux book here, I will look in it and try to find if ifconfig has a file it writes to.   If it does, I bet it is called ifconfig.sh

Maybe someone else can chime in here and help.

Sorry kuky... I couldn't find the ifconfig file... I guess there isn't one.

Don't know for sure though.

I found the actually ifconfig program.

What are you using netcardconfig for?
If not dhcp then perhaps a static ip?

Posted by kuky on Mar. 07 2006,10:27
???

begin every boot with manual static ip with system tool..

Posted by roberts on Mar. 07 2006,14:44
For static IP the answer is in the < Wiki >

???

1º thanks roberts.

2º ifconfig solved, adding line in " ifconfig wlan0 (ip type 192.168.1.1) netmask (255.255.255.0)" ifup wlan0 in opt/bootlocal.sh and the nodhcp in grub boot (edit in /boot /grub menu.lst)

3º but iwconfig no..i have a usb wireless card chipset atmel and in a misterious config file have essid"okuwlan" and channel=10 and begin with these config, no with the myiwconfig.sh.....when i config with netcardcofig of systems tools the x terminal and command iwconfig said the same but myiwconfig.sh no, when i run iwconfig of  system tools then myiwconfig change....
strange to newbe...

thanks from Spain..

A wireless card with a static ip. Thats a first for me.
So, yes you would have to have both command type added to /opt/bootlocal.sh. First the wireless setup, device, nssid and wep then followed by the static ip stuff, as, apparently you have done.

dont know about u guys' i just wrote a simple script-
modprobe ndiswrapper
pump -i wlan0

works fine ...

Posted by roberts on Mar. 11 2006,16:27
If you use the GUI it creates the script for you.
/opt/myndis.sh, or myprism2.sh, or myiwconfig.sh

Posted by kuky on Mar. 13 2006,17:54
i write the same that post in release candidate 2.3 rc1

"1º for config wireless card i notice that only iwconfig tool in dsl control panel make the scrip in myiwconfig.sh (to write line in bootlocal.sh and automatice boot) the other tools netcard config and wlanconfig no. Iwconfig only is in mode managed ,ad-hoc no ¿who is the reason of two "tools" for the same target?. The ifconfig ok ...

2º Advice to newbes of "smallmania" make the iso in cd-rewritable...

thanks from Spain (Alonso Champion!!!)
kuky newbe tester.."
