ok, this is a weird one..

i can ping/nslookup my router' google' and 1 other major site
but nothing else! the dont work well either.
web browser sais it "cant resolve DNS"
and nslookup "no address associated with name"...

its really weird' im using rt2500 wireless pcmcia, that seems to work fine
(can ping router and google..)
DHCP is ok, it gets the adress..route ok...host.allow set...resolve.conf ok..

what else?!?! what can it be?!
nothing on the forum so far...

Maybe it can ping Google because the dsn resolution was already cached.
Try to release and renew dhcp.

did.even reinstalled linux...still only google; dns error.
all my other pc's work fine...not a router issue...

installed the card on nother laptop (windows) and he works fine,
i noticed the led's are always lit on my DSL, unlike windows,
guess it a hardware IRQ conflict, but cant make it use anything besides IRQ 11
help?

I believe if you are able to ping external addresses using the IP address but cannot ping using the URL or browse that you problem is related to your DNS server resolving the URL. Since you do not have a problem on other machines in your home network I would look at what the name server IP is configured on the DSL box. If you go to the control panel you will see a button labelled System Stats. Click that and you see a window pop up with several tabs at the bottom. Select the one labelled net. You should see a line like

nameserver 66.73.20.40

or whatever your DNS server is. You can compare this address to the DNS server IP address on the machines that are not having any problems. I would think they should match. If not then this is most likely the problem.

no, thats not it. the resolv is ok.
and now i cant ping google, so its a "normal" problem

still' route is fine, resolv.conf is fine (same as other linux box)
can ping local lan and router' but no net.
