I have recently installed DSL on my ageing laptop, i have inserted the PCMCIA card into the laptop, what do i have to do to install it - when i try netcardconfig it unkindly says: No supported network cards found.

I am using a German brand of card that i know from knoppix and debian sources both support it. but it doesnt seem to do anything, i know it worked with win95.

could it be that netcardconfig is really only for pci cards ethernet cards and not for pcmcia cards?

where am i going wrong? what can i do?

What version are you running? From this and other posts you have made, it would appear 0.5.x version. That equates to Knoppix 3.1. 0.6.x versions of DSL are based on Knoppix 3.3. In 0.6.x much more devices are supported. So, as the system is booting do you see a section that shows cardmgr finding your ethernet card? And finally netcardconfig only cares about eth devices. So, yes you can use netcardconfig on a pcmcia ethernet card. It may solve many of your issues if you would use a more recent version.
