I can get dsl to work on my linux network, but I have and old
98 se system I would like to use so I can keep testing  new versions of dsl.

win 98 I have:
VDHCP from www.pscs.co.uk
CCProxy from  youngzsoft.com
dialup connection

vdhcp works, I get a active lease
ccproxy with autoscan finds dsl
I can ping from win98 to dsl and dsl to win98
from win98/firebird I can load Monkey Http Daemon
when I try and run Dillo and click on Home I get error:Dns can't solve www.dillo.org

any ideas what Iam doing wrong, other then getting rid of
win98.

regards,
fitz

Sounds like DSL is not getting the nameserver from your win98 DHCP server. Can you ping your nameserver's IP  from DSL? Does your Win98 VDHCP support that feature? You may need to look at /etc/resolv.conf. Then manually add your nameserver to it.
