Ive tried 2 ISA NIC's which i know work.
1. they were working when i got them.
2. when turned on the LEDs on them light up!

I dont know what im doing wrong within the BOIS or the jumper settings on the mobo, but im lost.

ive tried the card in a diff. isa slot and boot into DSL and do a netcardconfig, nothing.

HELP ME!

hmmm sounds strange.....

you mean  that the nic have been working under DSL?
And what kind off nix are they? (most off the times there is a map of the nics on the internet explaining how the jumpers should stand...)

good luck....

I may be that DSL doesn't find the cards and load the correct modules because they are ISA cards. You could try to run lsmod on the command line to see if the modules are loaded. If they're not, you have to load them manually with modprobe and then run netcardconfig.

ok both NICs wont work in another pc i have that has ISA slots and has XP installed. XP doesnt find them, even after i installed the drivers.

The PC im on now is older and should work nicely with them. but it doesnt. i did a lsmod nothing really looked like it was related to the nic, so i did modprobe \* like it suggested.
ran lsmod again, nothing changed, did a netcardconfig. no card! im booting with dsl 2, (text mode) should be alright?right?

If these are the older nic cards that are not plug-n-pray,
You'll need a configration utility to set the io and irq #'s...
That's why XP won't find them...
Newer bioses have a P-N-P utility in them to detect the cards
FOR windows before booting the OS...

The config utility usually runs from DOS, and floppy...
Search google by BRAND/MODEL of card to find the dos tools..
Once you have them set, and know the correct information
about their settings, you can add that to your insmod request...

instead of "insmod ne2k"
it would be.. "insmod ne2k io=0x300 irq=5"

...and YES, dsl 2 is fine...
