My guess is that the version is the one from the knoppix 3.4 5-17-2004 version, but John & co can confirm this.If so, this informatin may be of help: < http://www.knoppix.net/docs/index.php/Bugs/3.4-2004-05-17 > Posted by roberts on Sep. 01 2004,00:49
Confirmed.

okies, i have downloaded the appropriate firmwareBUT, the approriate directory to copy it to (/usr/lib/hotplug/firmware) doesn't exist, and, since DSL uses a read only filesystem, it won't let me create the dir, or symlink it to another directory. any advice? damn, I'm writing in order to answer questions, then I ask a (what will probably end up being a really dumb) question. -J.P. Install any *.dsl package. It will create a writable "/usr" structure in your ramdisk (need enough RAM. 96MB is OK. You can probably get away with 64MB if you install a small size *.dsl package) Then copy your driver to the appropriate destination as user 'root' If everything checks out OK, you can tar it up into a nice .dsl package for future use and even burn it to the root of your CD-R disk if you want automatic installation. But first you need to get the thing working... Posted by subarus on Sep. 02 2004,20:17
I dont think knoppix 3.4 5-17-2004 version has a working centrino wifi. Try the 5-10-2004 version. pre.44 versions of the ipw2100 driver require 1.0 firmware, while post .44 versions require the 1.1 version. I think.. |
