Hi guys!I'm a newbie in Linux, I recently installed, after have tried as many distros as I could get hold on, DSL (Damnsmall Linux). The distro is very good, and I think it is what I needed. However I seem to be stuck when it comes to the use of Internet. I can't go on the net. I have download drivers for my modem (Lucent I56LVP) but I don't know how to use, I dunno how to make it work, I need to get command line to make it work. I have to say guys, this is the best Linux forum ever found on the net. I have never seen such forum keeping in touch and helpful. Keep it up!;) Thx guys! Someone who knows nothing about Linux! My advice. Dump the Lucent modem. I have gotten them to work but it's hit and miss. Spend a couple bucks and get a hardware/controller based internal modem or better yet an external modem. External modems connected to a serial port are by far the best option. They take almost no effort to set up and they use almost no cpu cycles to operate.

Hawki,I appreciate your reply, but the reason I joined the Linux society is because 1) I was tired of Windows and 2) I wanted to learn something new! And if I take the easy way out I would be learning anything, beside I'm the kind of person who doesn't give up easily:). Therefore if U know how to make it work, plz tell me, I will be happy to make it work! Plz be as simple and precis as possible coz I know nuffin about Linux:(, yet! Thx! Quite honestly I don't remember exactly what I did to make it work. I know it was with RedHat.
