I have just got DSL running on an old laptop

Compaq LTE5250
Pentium 120
256 Mb hard disk
no cdrom
80 Mb Ram

What would be the chances of getting a pcmcia WLan working with it and can anyone reccomend one

Cheers

I have been using a Netgear MA401 wireless card on my old laptop (Toshiba Libretto P120MHz 16bit PCcard slot) with great success.

Thanks Libretto,

Just ordered one.  From what I can tell this card is pritty easy to get working in Knoppix.  Anything different in DSL?

Cheers

Not that I'm aware of. You may need to edit a few config files to enable wireless. I would show you hte one from my uni but its for internal viewing only. If you search the forum or < The Linux Documetation Project > you will find details on how to setup the cards. Hope this helps and good luck :D

Ah well I am sure I will work it out.  I will note down exactly what I did and write it up for the FAQ section.

hello:

I reccomend you a ORINOCO LUCENT SILVER PCMCIA Card,,  it works excellent in my laptop, no special instructions, no recompilation of drivers, nada! just plug it in and it works!

I have it on a Texas Instruments TI5300
P-133MHz, 32MB RAM, 1GB HD
