I've been futzing around with Monkey in v2.4rc1 and have been enjoying myself.  Starting Monkey is a cinch.

There were two php extensions under System, I think, in the repository.  The php-4-monkey didn't work for me for some reason, but the php.tar.gz loaded fine.  I'm not sure what was up with that.

So experiments with Monkey+Php+SQLite+the new lua.cgi libraries ensued.

I downloaded the punbb message board and tried to install it.  I can't seem to make it want to work with SQLite, though.  I know that other people around here have worked with phpbb, and I was wondering what the community thinks about the options as far as message boards go, or if we would be interested in creating an extension of one.

And more generally, what have your experiences been in creating a Damn Small Webserver?

Actually you can use a hotloadable app called < XAMPP >

It comes as a complete install:

XAMPP is an easy to install Apache distribution containing MySQL, PHP and Perl. XAMPP is really very easy to install and to use - just download, extract and start.

However it will be a bit more bloated and system resource intensive...so I bet running it on a 486 w/ 32Megs of RAM wouldn't be a good idea...

I will direct you to this thread...this gentleman took my advise and is running it on somewhat lower rated specs hardware

I KNOW that XAMPP package is solid and works very very very well (hell even the Winblows version works good)

Perhaps instead of re-inventing the wheel, just try a different one

Let us know if this works out for you bud!

P.S.  Remember to run the "Security" scripts to lockdown the XAMPP install...they say not to run it in a production environment..but hell its linux..it has to be more secure than IIS
