wy no sendmail

I need sendmail so people can use my contact me link on my php site. But I can's seem to install the darn thing.
Keep getting errors from apt-get about depending or needing perl
witch I already have. Seems like nobody cares on this issue.
I'm getting pretty frustrated. qmail install gives me errors to.
Wy is sendmail no part of dsl. Life would be better.
