I have recently posted many times a template for using ndiswrapper.
Do you have DSLv2.4RC2? It has a much newer ndiswrapper.

What steps have your tried?
What  and where is your .inf and sys files?

have followed the onsite install directions of ndisswrapper.
i can not make dirclean or anything.
i've tried installing a fresh copy of ndiswrapper.

i just can't seem to get it going.  i've used the drivers that are on the install cd.

Do you don't need to install ndiswrapper.
You need to use DSL-2.4RC2

You only need to collect two files an .inf and a .sys file for your particular card. The ndiswrapper.sourceforge can help.
Copy these two files to your home/dsl directory

As user root:

# ndiswrapper -i /home/dsl/your_card.inf
Check results with
# ndiswrapper -l

# modprobe ndiswrapper

# iwconfig
You should see a device wlan0

If you are not using WEP then
# iwconfig wlan0 essid your_network_essid_name
If you are using dynamic IP
# pump -i wlan0

That usually does it.
