Hey all, I'm wondering if there's a simple way to go directly to the Iwconfig GUI from the desktop rather than clicking through the DSLpanel?

The reason is, I'm installing an old laptop for my sister to use for Internet and writing -- I'm going to limit the desktop a bit, but I think I can teach her how to use the Iwconfig GUI.

A bit of clarification since this didn't get picked up in the first run:

I would like to access the iwconfig GUI (that you get to from the DSL control panel) from an icon on the desktop.

I was wondering if there's an easy way to do that -- can the iwconfig GUI be run from the shell?  Does the DSL control panel program run from a script?

Yes.

1. From the command prompt:

sudo /usr/local/bin/iwconfig_setup

2. To make a desktop icon
a.) from the system menu, select Desktop, then Icontool
b.) from Icontool select add tab
c.) Select an icon to use listed at the top, say gear.png
   d.) Type the icon's label
e.) X and Y are only used if you have previously chosen manual layout - normally just ignore it
f.) Type the full path command
       sudo /usr/local/bin/iwconfig_setup
   g.) click OK

Note: for some commands you need to be root, hence the sudo is need to configure the wireless cards.
